Custom Software for Small Business, Built Around How You Work
Dashboards, quoting, stock and scheduling. The internal tools the business actually runs on.
Scope varies enormously. A single dashboard built on numbers you already collect sits near the bottom, a small internal system with several users and data brought over from the old one well above it. Priced per project after we understand what you need.
Typical range, not a quote. Your price comes from the free estimate.
The problem
The off-the-shelf product does eighty percent of what you need, charges per user per month forever, and the missing twenty percent is the part your business actually runs on. So there is a spreadsheet bridging the gap, one person understands it, and everybody quietly hopes they do not leave.
Why it matters
Custom software has a reputation for being expensive, and for large systems that is fair. Custom software for small business is a different animal, because the scope is genuinely small: a few screens, a handful of things to track, a couple of reports and a way in for the five people who need it. Built once, it fits exactly, there are no per-user fees compounding for the next decade, and it does the twenty percent the off-the-shelf product refused to do. The important part is honesty about which situation you are in. Sometimes the right answer really is the subscription product, and we will say so rather than quote for something you should not buy. This is the inside of the business, the screens your own people work in. The public side, the site your customers land on when they search for you, is a different job with different priorities and it is at website design.
Scope
What we actually do
- 01The screens the work actually happens in, built around the way your people already do the job rather than around a demo
- 02Dashboards that pull your numbers into one place, instead of four tabs and a spreadsheet
- 03Systems for quoting, stock, jobs, scheduling, or whatever the spreadsheet is currently holding together
- 04Connections between tools you already pay for, so the same number stops being typed in twice
- 05Data brought over from the spreadsheet or the old system, which is usually the fiddliest part of the job
- 06Hosting and maintenance if you want it, or a clean handover if you would rather own it outright
- 07An honest answer when an off-the-shelf product would serve you better, before you spend anything
A tool that fits how you actually work, with no per-user fee, that you own.
Questions
Questions people actually ask
Is custom software for small business not much more expensive than a subscription?
More up front, cheaper over time, and it depends entirely on scope. For a small tool with a handful of users the crossover is often around two years. We will do that math with you honestly.
What if I want to take it elsewhere later?
You own it. Code and data are yours, and we hand them over in a form another developer can pick up. No lock-in.
Can you take over something somebody else built?
Often, yes. We would look at it first and tell you honestly whether it is worth continuing or worth restarting.
