Security Camera Installation That Records to Your House, Not the Cloud
Your footage stays on your property. No monthly fee. No company holding your video.
Per camera installed, and the camera itself is included. The recorder is a separate one-off cost, sized to how many cameras and how much history you want to keep.
Typical range, not a quote. Your price comes from the free estimate.
The problem
The cameras were cheap and the subscription is not. Every month you pay to keep your own footage on somebody else's computer, and if you stop paying you lose the history. The app is slow, notifications arrive five minutes late or fire every time a car goes past, and searching for the clip you actually need is miserable.
Why it matters
The cameras are the easy part of a security camera installation. What decides whether it was worth doing is where the footage lands, and there is a much better arrangement than the default one, which is not more expensive over any reasonable timeframe. A recorder that lives in your building keeps all the footage locally, which means no monthly fee, no upload eating your connection, and no company deciding how long your history lasts or who can see it. Recording locally also removes the practical limits: full quality instead of whatever the upload can carry, and months of history instead of the seven days the cheap plan allows. Detection runs in the building too, so the system can tell a person from a car from a cat and only bother you for the ones that matter, which is what finally makes notifications useful rather than something you learn to ignore. You keep remote viewing, over a private connection rather than by publishing your cameras to the internet. None of this changes the security camera installation itself: the same cables, the same mounts, the same angles, a different destination for the video.
Scope
What we actually do
- 01A recorder in your building that keeps every camera at full quality, with months of history rather than days
- 02Detection that runs locally and tells people from vehicles from animals, so alerts mean something
- 03No monthly fee for recording or for keeping your own history
- 04Camera placement planned around what you actually want to see, including the awkward angles and the dark corners
- 05Power and data over one cable per camera, which means fewer holes and one place to reboot from
- 06Private remote viewing from your phone, without exposing the cameras to the internet
- 07Footage export that is straightforward, for the day you need to hand a clip to somebody
- 08Works with cameras you already own where they are worth keeping
Every camera recording at full quality to a box in your building, alerts that are worth reading, and no subscription.
Questions
Questions people actually ask
Can I still watch from my phone when I am away?
Yes. That works over a private connection to your own network, which is both more secure and usually faster than the cloud app you have now.
What if someone steals the recorder?
A fair concern and we plan for it: the recorder goes somewhere hidden and secure, and for higher-risk sites we can mirror important footage off-site so a stolen box does not take the evidence with it.
Is it really cheaper than a subscription?
Over any timeframe past the first year or two, comfortably. There is more up front and then nothing monthly, and you keep the footage rather than renting access to it.
Do you do security camera installation for businesses as well as houses?
Yes, and on the same terms: shops, clinics, studios and small offices across Washington DC, Northern Virginia and Suburban Maryland, with the recorder staying on the premises and no monthly fee for keeping your own footage.
Can you reuse my existing cameras?
Often yes, if they are decent. Most standard cameras work with a local recorder. Some cheap brands deliberately lock themselves to their own app, and those we would replace.
